Outside Broadcasts

Outside Broadcasts

As well as studio-based programmes, we often broadcast programmes from outside the studio when special events take place.

Examples of this include:

  • Oxford Hospital’s Charity Abseil
  • Sobell House Lights of Love
  • The Radcliffe Orchestra Concerts (see article below)
  • Lunch time concerts from the Churchill Hospital entrance

The Radcliffe Orchestra

You may not know that Oxford’s hospitals have their own orchestra, the Radcliffe Orchestra, whose members are mainly hospital staff and their friends. The orchestra performs several times a year in the Nicholas Tingewick Hall on the John Radcliffe site. Details can be found on their website: http://www.radcliffeorchestra.org.uk/

Lunchtime Concerts at the Churchill Hospital

We record some performances like the Lunchtime Concerts at the Churchill Hospital foyer. These are organised through the OUH.NHS trust Arts Coordinator and details can be found at: https://www.ouh.nhs.uk/artlink/music/default.aspx#lunchtime

Concerts organised by Radio Cherwell

We organise some free concerts each year. These are usually broadcast ‘live’ from one of the public areas within the hospitals. Patients, staff and visitors are encouraged to attend if they are able to do so. We are grateful to those performers who give their services free, enabling these concerts to take place.
